The Most Haunted Place In The World
5th place: Boley Parsonage. Essex, England

Borley Village is not an area where ghosts always accompany you, but it is home to the infamous Borley Parsonage, said to be the largest haunted house in all of England. Legend has it that a monk and a nun were murdered after an affair was discovered at this once-historic monastery site. Nuns are said to haunt the rectory grounds, but several tenants have reported paranormal activity, including ringing bells, broken windows, and letters appearing on partitions.
Wikipedia reference: Borley Parsonage became infamous for being called "England's most haunted residence" by psychic Harry Price. Built-in 1862 to house the Rector of Borley Parish and his family, it was badly damaged by the hearth in 1939 and demolished in 1944.
The enormous Gothic parsonage in the village of Boley has been speculated to have been haunted since its construction. These reviews suddenly accelerated in 1929 after the Daily Mirror published a description of the visit by paranormal investigator Harry Price, who wrote two of his books supporting the paranormal claims. Price's report prompted a full investigation by the Society for Psychical Research (SPR), which dismissed the peak sightings as either hoaxes or hoaxes, and cast doubt on Price's veracity. His claims are now discredited by ghost historians. But neither SPR documents nor Price's recent biography have curbed public taste in these memoirs, and new books and television documentaries continue to satisfy a public fascination with the parsonage.
His BBC-commissioned program on the rally, which was to be televised in September 1956, was canceled and stayed indoors because the last rector's widow, Marianne Feister, could face a prison sentence.
In 1975 the BBC aired a program titled The Ghost Hunters, focusing on the Borley Parsonage and featuring many psychical researchers and interviews with Peter Underwood. It also included an expired psychiatric evaluation.
